Canning For A New Generation

I received the most wonderful gift this week!  A great cookbook called Canning For A New Generation, by Liana Krissof.

The book was my prize in a giveaway by Sherri B. at Little House In Paradise.

There are recipes galore for canning fruit and veggies, pickles and juice, chutneys and jams...the list goes on and on.  I can't wait to try some of the recipes, plus, it makes delicious reading.  She is very knowledgeable about canning and food safety (which I admit has prevented me from doing a lot of canning in the past).

The photos are beautiful, and as a bonus, in the back of the book there are cute labels you can use to identify the bounty that you end up with after following her very clear directions.

I see pickles and jam in our future!  My mom used to make home made grape juice and I remember the fragrance of the crushed grapes....I might try juice too!

Thanks Sherri, for such a useful and beautiful gift!

  1. You are very welcome, my friend. I am so pleased that you are happy with it. Not having this book myself, makes it a bit risky to do a giveaway with but the reviews were so good and it seemed so unique. I will now order it for myself.

    Have a lovely weekend. xo

  2. Hi, Paula! Thanks so much for entering my bloggy giveaway and the good wishes on my 700th post milestone! Best of luck to you! And congratulations on winning that canning book! I'm sure that you'll put it to good use.

I'm glad to drop by and visit with you! So you live across the water from Juneau, huh? LOL, would you believe that I am going to be in your neck of the woods briefly next month? We're going on a small boat cruise of the Inside Passage, starting out in Petersburg and ending up in Sitka. According to the itinerary, we'll dock in Juneau for some daytime activities & exploring on June 9. If the weather is good, I'd love to ride the tram up the hillside. We last visited the area in 1996, but I still remember it fondly! We now have digital cameras, so we wanted to visit one more time before they plant us in the ground, LOL.
