Who Wants To Help Me Paint?

We have very old, badly done trim in our tiny house, put up in a hurry by the previous owners in anticipation of visitors.  While it looks rather charming and cabinesque, it isn't quite the look that I want (that look being "finished").

While I was working full time, I had neither the time nor the inclination to do anything about it, and Charles, while being very handy with a paintbrush, would rather be painting icons in his studio than trim in the house.  Although, while I have been gone on various vacations, he has painted the bathroom, the kitchen, and the dining room, but not the trim, being of the you-don't-paint-over-natural-wood school of interior decoration.  Hence the natural (and uneven and slapdash) wood trim, and the lovely natural wood very un-slapdash wainscoting.

So, back to my question.  Since we can't afford to put up new, non-slapdash trim, and I doubt very much that Charles will go for painting the wainscoting, I have decided to paint the doors and the woodwork in our dining room.  Here are some pictures of the room as it is now:

The door to the laundry room, which I want to paint apple green, to pick up the green in the fake Tiffany style window covering.

The view from the dining room into the kitchen (note the chile pepper theme in the kitchen and please don't note the dirty floors).

The dining room window and windowsill shelf (my favorite feature).

The bathroom door and our dish cabinet.

So, my plan is to paint the laundry room door and the bathroom door apple green and the trim white.

Let me know what you think!

  1. I think it will be so fresh and fun! We painted our bare wood trim white and the difference was amazing. I can't wait to see the after pictures!
