The Big Trip, Vol. 1

The first leg of my journey took me to Olympia, Washington for the ordination of our newest priest. Olympia is also the home of one of my dearest friends, Lee Ann. She and I met at St. Thomas More School in Portland, Oregon when I was five and she was six. We immediately became best friends and have remained so for 50 (Good Lord!) years.

Charles and I flew from Juneau to Seattle, and Lee Ann picked us up and drove us to Olympia, where we met the wonderful staff of St. Michael Parish, where the ordination was taking place. Charles was the liturgy coordinator and one of the MCs for the ordination.

Charles rehearses with the folks from St. Michael and with (soon to be) Fr. Steve.

Flowers around the altar.

Lee Ann and I visiting at dinner the night before the ordination.

Beautiful metal gate depicting the Crucifixion and the Garden of Eden.

Fr. Steve!

Olympia was a whirlwind of fun, rehearsals, prayer, celebration and most and best of all, seeing Lee Ann!

More adventures to come...stay tuned!

  3. How nice for you to join in and also meet up with your life long friend.

I was born in Portland Oregon in 1953 and grew up there, all of my family is still there and we have our real home in Vancouver Wa.
